This page is intended to answer some of the FAQ's you may have that are all part of the counselling environment at the practical level so that you are as well prepared for understanding what you are undertaking as it's possible to be before making a decision.
How many counselling sessions will I need?
This varies depending on each individual’s circumstances. Some people come for brief therapy and others stay longer term. This will depend on the difficulties you are experiencing and your needs from counselling. Normally I would suggest giving the process a 6-session commitment and we can evaluate how it is going for you at that point.
How often will we meet?
Where possible sessions are weekly. This may vary over time depending on your needs and the stage you are at in the process i.e. if you are moving towards finishing counselling you might want to schedule fortnightly sessions for a while before ending.
Do I need to be referred from my GP?
You do not need to be referred from your GP or anyone else. You can make an appointment with me directly by email or phone.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Confidentially is a core element of counselling. You will be able to trust that the information you bring to the counselling room will remain in the room. There are some exceptions to the confidentiality rule. These are:

What is the cost of the session?
The session cost is €50 for individual therapy and the session itself lasts one hour. Payment is made by cash at the end of each session.
